Administrative Division
In December 2000, with the approval of the State Council, Yaan was upgraded to Yaan Municipality from Yaan Prefecture (the municipal people's government is located at No.1, Zhenghe Road, Qingjiang Sub-district, Yucheng District) with jurisdictions over Yucheng District and 7 counties of Mingshan, Yingjing, Hanyuan, Shimian, Tianquan, Lushan and Baoxing. In November 2012, with the approval of the State Council, Mingshan County was abolished and Mingshan District was set up, and Ya’an then governed two districts of Yucheng and Mingshan and 6 counties of Yingjing, Hanyuan, Shimian, Tianquan, Lushan and Baoxing.
